Randy Roy is a senior international judge, course designer, coach and author. He owns and operates Hunters Glen Show Stable which has recently relocated to Caledon, ON. His experience judging and course designing for the past 44 years makes him an in-demand clinician, and his no-nonsense approach and sometimes biting comments made him a popular ‘Ask The Judge’ columnist in Horse Sport magazine as he imparted invaluable info about everything from rule infractions to conduct to turnout in the ring.

Still training and teaching all equestrian levels, Randy has worked with many top riders on both sides of the border who have gone on to enjoy stellar careers including Ian Millar, Eric Lamaze, Mac Cone, Jay Hayes, Jill Henselwood, Cheryl Lanctot, Ainsley Vince, Missy Clark, Peter Stoeckl, Natalie and Tory Bova, Geoff Teall, Natasha Skupsky, Ryan Roy and Cathy Roy.

Randy is the author of nine books which succinctly explain what the judge is looking for in the ring, how to achieve it, and what to avoid doing, including Here Comes The Judge, Viewpoint, You Be The Judge, and The Judge is Back. He currently has a new one in the works, The Judge Tells All, with a foreword and introduction by Ian Millar and Eric Lamaze.

Foreseeable Future

“I will be supporting my daughter Ryan Roy and manager Sabrina Ivancovic in the new Hunter’s Glen & Ivancovic Equestrian partnership in their new location at Forest Hill Stables in King, ON. I will continue to judge all over North America, as well as course designing. I look forward to promoting and organizing clinics prior to the shows I will be judging or course designing at, as this will allow riders and show organizers the opportunity to take advantage of my on-site availability.”

Memorable Moments

“Cathy and I receiving the first Canadian Hall of Fame Inductee honour for our hunter Just Cruising. Also being the only Canadian judge that has officiated at all prestigious indoor shows in North America.”
