Canadian eventer Holly Jacks-Smither started off the Les Etoiles de Pau CCI5*-L on October 25th with her partner, 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding More Inspiration, in the best possible fashion, scoring a personal best 36.0 pp at this level of competition. The pair currently sit 29th on the leaderboard among 42 starters going into Saturday’s cross-country test. “Couldn’t be more proud of Morris today,” Holly remarked in a Facebook post. She is not only the sole Canadian competing in this event, but also the only North American entry.
Tom McEwen of Great Britain leads the field after dressage with Toledo De Kerser with a score of 24.9pp. He is followed by Tim Price (NZL) and Wesko, who have 25.6 pp; third place is split by Rosalind Canter (GBR) and Zenshera and fellow Brit Gemma Tattersall riding Jalapeno, who both scored 27.2pp.
