The Ukraine Equestrian Federation Charity Foundation has seen its donations falling as the rest of the world is beginning to feel the economic effects of the ongoing conflict in that country. The situation in Ukraine regarding the hay supply is becoming especially desperate, as many of the fields are riddled with landmines and can’t be harvested.

As a result, horse people around the world are encouraged to continue to donate what they can to help with current needs to provide humanitarian aid and feed for 300 stables, organize distribution and logistics and cover the costs of running shelter stables and evacuations. In addition, UEFCF is also looking for donations for portable diagnostics equipment and/or a fully-equipped mobile veterinary clinic.

A progress report of the organization’s four months of operations from March to June includes:

  • production of humanitarian aid compound food was started in Ukraine
  • aid has reached 133 stables and clubs with 1,712 horses in five regions
  • to date, 1200 tonnes of hay, haylage, feed and shavings has been received and 1,000 tonnes distributed.
  • production has started on long-term shelters with 80 boxes donated by the FEI
  • a fundraising initiative called Ride For Ukraine is asking show organizers, federations, businesses and the media to get involved.
