The #RIDEFORTHECAUSE campaign is a unique example of how equestrians can contribute to a global campaign against poverty. Kevin Sanford, Mark Samuel, Kim Samuel, and Rick Balaz of Sam-Son Farm inspired #RIDEFORTHECAUSE with their generous decision to give back, setting the precedent for horse owners and equestrians around the world to make a difference in the lives of children in need through JustWorld.

Rideforthecause (Candy Ride x Danceforthecause) is a bay Thoroughbred filly who was born in 2016 at the legendary Sam-Son Farms in Milton, Ontario. Her successful racing career led to the incredible opportunity for her donor family to make positive change in the lives of children in need. Each time she ran, Rideforthecause raised awareness and funds for JustWorld International’s education and nutrition programs.

“I had the idea to take half of her career earnings and to give them to charity,” said Sam-Son CEO Mark Samuel, who is also the vice-president of the FEI. “Kim and Rick enthusiastically supported the idea and that is exactly what has happened. At the end of her racing career/ownership with us we will take half of her lifetime earnings and split them three ways between three deserving charities! Paying it forward!”
