Ontario Shines at Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships

After three days of competition against 70 determined athletes from across Canada, Team Ontario brought home the hardware from the Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships, which took place from Oct. 3-5 in Blainville, QC.

Ontario took home second place in the overall standings and finished with a team silver in Show Jumping. Members of the Jumping team also brought home medals in individual competition:

Junior Individual Show Jumping
Silver – Abigail Bibbings of London, ON.
Bronze – Sam Walker of Nobleton, ON.

Bronze – Alexa Bennett of York, ON.

Team Ontario was also made up of Nikki Snazel of Uxbridge, ON. who rode on the Senior Jumping team; Junior Dressage riders Catherine Andrews of Niagara Falls, ON. and Vivian Vandewint of Metcalfe, ON.; Senior Dressage riders Jessie Palmer of Odessa, ON. and Tori Pittman of Toronto, ON.; Junior Reiner Amanda Peters of Port Perry, ON.; and Senior Reiners Kathy Furtado and Elizabeth Barkey, both of Pefferlaw, ON.

“There were some very strong riders at this year’s event and Ontario’s riders held their own,” says Dianne Graham, executive director of the Ontario Equestrian Federation. “This competition wasn’t without its challenges, but our talented riders persevered. Each and every member of Team Ontario should be proud of what the team accomplished.”
