The Ontario Equine Economic Survey which was announced in May is now live. A joint effort between the Ontario Harness Horse Association/Ontario Equine Educational and Employment Program (OHHA/OEEEP), with support from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA), the project consists of four different surveys: one for horse owners, one for horse owners who also own an equine-related business, one for business owners who do not own horses, and one for horse associations/clubs (see links below). Alternatively, survey respondents can be directed to the study website from which they can select the appropriate survey.
1. Survey for horse associations / organizations / clubs:For example, organizations that have members who are horse owners
3. Survey for individuals who operate a business that provides products and/or services to the horse sector AND they also own a horse(s):Examples of equine products and services include veterinary and other equine care and maintenance services, boarding, training, farrier, saddle and bit fitter services, tack equipment and apparel, horse feed and/or supplements, bedding, transportation / trailering services, truck and trailer sales and service, farm equipment / machinery sales and service, farm buildings and fencing, equine insurance, law services, accounting services, etc.
4. Survey for individuals who operate a business that provides products and/or services to the horse sector, BUT they do not own a horse(s): The survey will be conducted over the summer and the analysis will be conducted in the fall, with a final report published by the end of 2025.
