On March 23, 2020, Clean Endurance โ€’ a global collective which aims to restore the traditional values of the sport by combatting fraud, doping and abuse in collaboration with the FEI, National Federations and numerous other stakeholders โ€’ released the following statement regarding a leading UAE endurance rider:

Clean Endurance is relieved that the FEI Tribunal has agreed that a leading UAE endurance rider committed horse abuse through the mis-use of a severe bridle during the 160km CEI*** Presidentโ€™s Cup at Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi in February 2019.

This decision sets a landmark precedent for Endurance โ€“ where more and more harsh bits and tight nosebands are being employed in an attempt to compensate for poor riding skills and lack of proper training of the horse.
