Hi everyone. Due to the tremendousness of tonight and the absolutely crazy schedule of starting before dawn to get to cross country tomorrow only about six hours after the press conference after the freestyles, I will attempt to keep you up to speed in the freestyles without resorting to Facebook or Twitter (whose value I understand but do not cherish). What I plan to do is to write impressions ongoing, then at each break I will post – that is if there is an internet signal. Every time there was a break during the GPS the internet in the stadium went down, presumably due to the large number of people trying to send coverage at once. Fingers crossed!
A couple bits of happy news for Canada in reining and eventing. Duane Latimer managed to significantly improve his result in the individual reining final to pull Canada’s first medal of this WEG – bronze. Giddyup! Please let it not be our last. And today in the eventing dressage BC’s own Steph Rhodes-Bosch managed a terrific result with Ollie (Port Authority) to be the highest placed Canadian. She currently sits 17th out of 79 competitors. The Canadian team is currently ninth; Madison Park gave Kyle an unusually hard time even for him in the dressage, but Kyle we know you are riding a cross country genius – expect the team’s position to improve tomorrow when all those Canuck cross country machines head out on course. And on that note – I walked the course today. It is a big HUGE galloping course with some serious questions but a wonderful overall picture. It’s going to be a terrific day tomorrow. Gone are the twists and turns of the tiny course in Hong Kong. Mike Etherington-Smith and his builders were clearly inspired here.
