Special Statements:

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Jaeda, a 13-year-old mare ridden by Booli Selmayr and owned by Kelly Morgan, died while competing on cross country in the CCI3* at Bromont, Canada at midday on Saturday 10 June 2017. The rider was unhurt.

Update:  On June 10th at approximately 11:50am local time Jaeda, a 13-year- old mare ridden by Booli Selmayr and owned by Kelly Morgan, died between obstacles 13AB and 14 while competing on cross country in the CCI3* at Bromont, Canada. The post mortem diagnosis of an acute diaphragmatic hernia was made by the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire St-Hyacinthe. An injury of this type could not have been foreseen and is very uncommon in equestrian sport.

Statement from Tamra Smith regarding her ride on Dempsey in the Bromont CCI3*:

Dempsey was jumping fantastic around the 3 Star at Bromont earlier today, and unfortunately injured himself on landing halfway around the course. After being transported to University of Montreal Veterinary Hospital for further evaluation, it was determined that he sustained a fracture to his ulna, which will require surgery. Thankfully, the prognosis is very good for his recovery and I truly can not express my gratitude for everyone’s calls, texts and support. Everyone at Bromont today was really incredible, from the vets, to the officials and everyone on site, as well as my groom Lauren, and all of my amazing friends. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and as always, a big thank you to my syndicate owners for everything they have done and continue to do for Dempsey and I.

Jordan Linstedt (USA) retains her lead in the CCI3* after adding just 1.60 time penalties to finish her fabulous cross-country round on a score of just 44.80 riding her and Barbara Linstedt’s Hanoverian gelding Revitavet Capato. Second place following cross-country was claimed by Frankie Thieriot Stutes of Occidental, California on the dark bay gelding Chatwin. The pair finished just behind Linstedt on a score of 51.30.

Linstedt of Redmond, Washington said, “My ride was fantastic. Capato was super from the beginning to the end,” which was clear to the huge crowd of spectators who had come out to watch the only CCI3* held in Canada and one of only 4 in North America.

Stutes expressed similar thoughts on her ride today. “I had so much fun today and he is such a special horse and I feel so lucky.”

In the CCI2*, Canada’s Waylon Roberts added nothing to his score of 41.10 with Lancaster on cross-country to gallop past the dressage leader Allison Springer.

Roberts was “really pleased for the horse, pleased for his owners, John and Michelle Koppin.” Looking ahead to show jumping on Sunday, he only had to say, “The poles come down for everybody, so we will see what happens.”

The CIC2* saw Boyd Martin move to the head of the field with On Cue after dressage leader and fellow Australian Clayton Fredericks added only a few time penalties to his scores on cross-country.

Adding just .40 time penalties to her score to maintain their CCI1* lead was Kelli Temple on the Holsteiner mare, Metallica owned by Kara L Angulo.

Vermont-born dual citizen,Temple, who is riding for the US at Bromont, previously represented Canada at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Final horse inspection of all CCI horses begins on Sunday morning at 8:00am; Show jumping follows shortly afterwards at 10:00am. This is the final day of competition at the 2017 PEDIGREE® Bromont CCI Three Day Event, The Todd Sandler Challenge. See complete results here.
