All the riders put their best foot forward at the first horse inspection at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event, but only two received new Dubarry of Ireland boots for being best dressed.

Canada’s Waylon Roberts and Sara Gumbiner of the U.S. were the winners of a new pair of boots, presented to them at the welcome party by Dubarry of Ireland’s Danny Hulse.

Roberts jogged down the lane in a natty suit with a red bowtie and pocket square that set off the dark red undertones of his bay mount Kelecyn Cognac, while Gumbiner wore cream and gray suit with a matching hat that coordinated with her shining gray Polaris.

Also presented at the party was a check from Equestrian Events, Inc. for $1,000 given to the lucky rider whose competition number was drawn from a hat. This year’s winner was Tamra Smith of California, who was all smiles to receive her check from Stewart Perry, President of EEI.

The welcome party also served as the unveiling of the brand new trophies for the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day event, provided by L.V. Harkness & Co.
