Calgary, AB – We bid farewell to winter today at Spruce Meadows with the $25,000 TELUS Grand Prix, in front of a very enthusiastic crowd.  Of the 18 starters only four were able to master the course set by Christa Heibach (GER).

Making their way to the jump-off were Tamie Phillips (CAN) on both Santos and Lucas, Jonathan Asselin (CAN) with Coolio and John Anderson on Terrific.  Phillips was the first into the ring for the first round of competition and followed suit in the jump-off.

Riding her 10 year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Santos, Phillips was clear in the jump-off with a time of 38.71.  Following her was former Canadian Olympian Jonathan Asselin.  While he was fast with a time of 37.74 Asselin was unable to put together a clear round and had to settle for second place.

Tamie Phillips and Santos, who train out of Strathmore, were unbeatable at Spruce Meadows today. “It was great, Santos jumped fantastic in the jump-off.  I just wish Lucas had been better, then it would have been a perfect day,” said Phillips coming off her win in the $25,000 TELUS Grand Prix win.
