SvenHolmberg.jpgThe Swedish Equestrian Federation has filed a nomination for Sven Holmberg as President of the FEI. Sven Holmberg currently holds the position as 1st Vice President of the FEI as well as being the Chairman of the International Jumping Committee. The election is to take place at the FEI General Assembly in November 2010.

Sven Holmbergs key objectives are a fair and level field of play and the welfare of the horse with a well functioning and modern organisation. It is essential that governance of an International Federation respects and fully honours those bodies elected within the Statutes of the Federation by the Bureau, Technical Committees or other Standing Committees. Ad hoc committees elected for special purposes or special advisory committees must not be seen to bypass elected bodies. Any special purpose committee should always report to the relevant elected body.

– There are certain ethical values we can agree on regardless of background. These values in my mind can be summarized as follows; respect for the human beings, the respect for animal welfare, equal opportunities for all and the right for all living creatures to be treated with dignity and respect, says Sven Holmberg.

– Those values should be at the core of the work carried out by the FEI.
