Ottawa, ON—Canadians Stephanie Rhodes-Bosch, Kyle Carter and Maya Studenmund closed out the international eventing season in North American with top 12 performances highlighted by fault free cross country performances at the CCI 2* Ocala Three Day Event, held November 14–18, 2007, at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala Florida.
Young Rider Rhodes-Bosch of Summerland, BC competing in her first CCI 2 star three day event was the top Canadian rider with Port Authority, her nine-year-old Canadian bred Selle Francais cross gelding. After dressage, Rhodes-Bosch was standing in 20th place in the field of 40 starters, on a score of 60. The pair recorded a clean performance over Mark Phillips cross country course and added just only one rail in the show jumping, to move up in the standings to ninth place overall with a final score of 64.
“It was the first CCI 2* for both myself and my horse,†remarked Rhodes-Bosch. “The cross country was certainly the biggest track I had ever jumped, but my coach, Rebecca Howard, described it as an inviting first two star course. I’m looking forward to competing at Jersey Fresh CCI 2* in May, and hopefully continuing on to the North American Young Riders’ Championships in July.â€
Pan American Eventing Team member Carter, of Calgary AB and currently based in Citra, FL, riding the 12-year-old Canadian Thoroughbred mare Right About Now, finished just behind Rhodes-Bosch in 10th place.
