The Board of Directors of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Association of Canada has announced the appointment of Cyrus Cooper as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, effective immediately.
Cyrus has over 20 years of experience within the hospitality and higher education sectors in Canada. He has held leadership roles as Director of Operations with Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality, The Granite Club and Pusateri’s Fine Foods. He is currently a professor at Centennial College’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts where he oversees the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Management post-graduate program. He holds a B.Com and a MBA from the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).
The official press release describes Cooper as ‘a seasoned leader, whose signature drive, ambition and focus on service, team building, and leadership has become his defining hallmark of his.’ Cooper is also an active community member and holds committee roles within organizations such as Toronto Metropolitan University and Trillium Health Partners. He lives in Mississauga with his wife and two sons.
Cooper replaces Charlie Johnstone, who resigned in July, 2023, after leading The Royal since 2015.
The 102nd Royal Agricultural Winter Fair runs Nov. 1-10, 2024 at Exhibition Place in Toronto.
