The all-new Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping links three of the world’s top events – CHIO Aachen, Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ CSIO 5* and CHI Geneva – in a quest to find and reward the ultimate competitor.
The prestigious Grand Slam bonus system is very lucrative for the winners. If a rider wins at all three shows in a row, they will receive 1 million Euros on top of the prize money received at each show. If they win two out of the three shows consecutively, the bonus is 500,000 Euros, and if they win two out of three shows out of succession, the bonus is 250,000 Euros. Only the rider counts, not the horse, so it is possible to claim the bonus riding on different mounts.
Michael Mronz, president of the Steering Committee of the Rolex Grand Slam, said “The Rolex Grand Slam will set benchmarks in terms of quality. Only shows that can boast the best sport, a long tradition, an excellent infrastructure, enthusiastic spectators and high media interest, have a chance to be part of the Rolex Grand Slam. The Grand Slam additionally unites three equestrian events with overall prize-money totalling 5.72 million Euros – it is an honour to be among their ranks.” Mronz went on to say that the Rolex Grand Slam not only offers the equestrian athletes the opportunity to win a lot of money, “they can also become a legend here.”
The first event in the line-up, CHIO Aachen will take place June 21-30, and boasts total prize money of 2.73 million Euros. Next up, on September 4-8, the Spruce Meadows Masters CSIO 5*offers 2.34 million CAD. Finally, CHI Geneva, with prize money of 1.5 million Swiss Francs, will be held December 12-15.
