Ottawa, ON—Mario Deslauriers is currently leading the Canadian League World Cup Standings with a total of 47 points.
Deslauriers of Bromont, QC, was victorious in the $100,000 American Gold Cup World Cup Qualifier in Moreland Hills, OH, as well as the $50,000 Grey Goose Vodka World Cup Qualifier in Southampton, NY, riding Paradigm, a 13-year-old Belgium Warmblood gelding. His tenth place finish in the $100,000 CN World Cup Grand Prix at the CSI-W Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, ON, netted him seven points to move him to the top of the leader board.
Aboard Vienna Rouge, Angelstone Farms’ nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, Keean White of Cambridge, ON, has catapulted into second place in the standings. With a third place finish in the $75,000 Canadian Country Classic at the Halton Place Horse Show that earned 20 points and an additional 15 points gained for his third place finish in the $100,000 National Horse Show Grand Prix in Wellington, FL, White has a current total of 43 points.
With a second place finish at the $100,000 World Cup Grand Prix at the CSI-W Tournament of Champions and a win in the $100,000 President’s Cup World Cup Qualifier at the Washington International Horse Show, Jill Henselwood is currently in third place with 40 points. Henselwood of Oxford Mills, ON, and Black Ice, a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood owned by Stacie B. Ryan, earned 20 points at each event.
One point behind in fourth position is Darrin Dlin, a native of Spruce Grove, AB, who now resides in Wellington, FL. Dlin has a total of 39 World Cup points after winning the $100,000 Caledon Equestrian Park World Cup Grand Prix in Palgrave, ON, as well as the $70,000 Grand Prix Jumping du Quebec World Cup on July 8 at the CSI-W Blainville Jumping International in Quebec. His partner for both wins was Odyssey Venture Inc.’s Catwalk, a 10-year-old Canadian-bred Oldenburg mare sired by Rio Grande.
Father-daughter duo Amy and Ian Millar, both of Perth, ON, are currently tied for fifth place in the Canadian League standings with 36 points each.
Currently residing in California, Chris Pratt of Belfountain, ON, has opted to earn his points in the U.S. West Coast World Cup League and has already amassed a total of 76 points. Pratt recently finished second in the $50,000 Las Vegas National World Cup Grand Prix held on November 3 in Las Vegas, NV, to earn 17 World Cup points. He also won the $50,000 Oaks Fall Classic in San Juan Capistrano, CA, on September 14 for a maximum 20 World Cup points. His partner on both occasions was C & S Partnership’s Royal Beach Farao, a 12-year-old Mecklenburg stallion.
The Canadian World Cup League now closes with the final events in the U.S. West Coast and U.S. East Coast World Cup Leagues, both scheduled for March 30, 2008. The 2008 World Cup Final will be held in its birthplace of Göteborg, Sweden from April 24–27, 2008. The top two riders in Canadian League World Cup Standings will be invited to attend the 2008 World Cup Final.
