Lisa Hossack-Scott from Douro-Dummer, ON has been named the Dressage Canada Volunteer of the Month for May.

Hossack-Scott has been a long-time supporter of dressage in Canada. After starting out organizing horse trials, she quickly assumed responsibility for organizing competitions for the Kawartha Lakes Dressage Association where she has been a member for many years.

Along the way, Hossack-Scott has worked with a variety of major competition organizers, volunteering to assist and learn. Her initial involvement with dressage competitions at the CDI level was through volunteer work, assisting Sue Rothgeb in organizing the prestigious dressage competitions in Blainville, QC.

Known as an understanding, accommodating and fair competition organizer, Hossack-Scott has moved forward in offering a CDI-level dressage competition at the Royal Canadian Riding Academy (RCRA) in Cedar Valley, ON in June 2016. Over the years, she has placed a high priority on offering opportunities and recognition for junior and young riders.

Hossack-Scott has been also been an active supporter of dressage activities over the years. She was a member of the Dressage Canada Board for six years, took on the role of Chair of the Finance Committee for Equine Canada (EC), and has been a member of the EC Awards and Recognition Committee.

The depth of Hossack-Scott’s effort and commitment as a volunteer on behalf of dressage is immense and for this Dressage Canada is delighted to recognize her as the May 2016 Volunteer of the Month.

If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the DC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making May 20 the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage.
