Ottawa, ON—Lindsay Pearce of Tecumseh, ON, finished second in the CCI 1* Morven Park Three Day Event held October 3–5, 2008, at the Morven Park Equestrian Center, in Leesburg, Virginia.

Pearce was the top Canadian rider with Patricia Pearce’s Tangle Top, an eight-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding. After dressage, Pearce topped the leader board on a score of 49.3. The pair recorded one of the seven double clear cross-country performances and maintained their lead going into show jumping but two costly rails in show jumping dropped them to finish in second place on a final score of 57.3.

“My horse was great all weekend. He always tries very hard for me and Morven Park was no exception,” noted Pearce. “Tangle Top is on a well deserved vacation, as he has competed a lot this year. My thanks go out to my parents who own my horse and to my coaches, David O’Connor and Gavin Moylan”

Siobhain O’Connor, of Guelph, ON, riding her own eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Mizar, finished in 10th place.  O’Connor jumped a clear cross-country round and finished with a score of 82.7 faults.

Close behind O’Connor was Noel Clark of Cochrane, AB, and his horse Protocol, six-year-old Canadian Sport Horse gelding, who finished in 12th place with a score of 88.3.

The CCI 1* competition was held as a classic format three day event—comprising of a cross-country test, which included the traditional steeplechase plus roads and tracks.

American Lillian Heard won the competition with Share Option on a score of 57.2, just 0.1 faults ahead of Pearce.
