The 2012 Olympian Jessica Phoenix of Cannington, ON, took home first place in the CIC 2* division aboard A Little Romance, Don and Anita Leschied’s eight-year-old Canadian Thoroughbred cross mare, at the Dreamcrest Horse Trials held June 29th in Port Perry, ON, at Dreamcrest Equestrian, one of Canada`s premiere eventing stables owned by Canadian Olympians Kelly Plitz and Ian Roberts.

Phoenix and A Little Romance earned a score of 55.9 in the dressage test putting them in seventh place heading into show jumping where the duo moved up the leaderboard into second after taking on four faults and zero time penalties. The pair tackled the cross country course posting a clear ride with 11.60 time faults to finish first overall on a score of 71.5.

“My goal going into the event was to have a solid overall performance with a strong dressage score. This was A Little Romance’s lowest dressage score at the 2* level which I was very pleased with,” commented Phoenix. “I was extremely happy with her entire performance. She felt very solid in all three phases. Thank you so much to her owner don and Anita Leschied for their incredible support and to Dreamcrest for putting on such a world class event.”
