Horse Racing New Brunswick’s executive director, Roberta Nixon, has resigned from her post.

CBC.ca reports that Nixon submitted her resignation on June 12th to become effective last week, citing personal reasons for her departure. Kathy McLean has taken over in her stead.

Horse Racing New Brunswick has been involved in a debate over the expansion of their operations, and Fredericton city council is set to vote on a zoning amendment to allow the relocation of the their video lottery lounge, which would sell alcohol and allow betting on simulcast races.

Residents near the proposed location of 444 Aberdeen Street are opposed to the plan because they say it does not suit the family neighbourhood.

The group is seeking a new location due to a dispute with their current landlord, Fredericton Exhibition Ltd., over the lease of their office at the Fredericton Exhibition grounds, where it also leases space to operate the Winners Lounge, which offers simulcast racing and video-lottery gaming.
