It is with considerable regret that the Canadian Eventing Committee (CEC) announces the resignation of Graeme Thom as chair of Canadian Eventing High Performance Committee, and in addition, the position of chef d’équipe for the Canadian Eventing Team heading to the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, FRA, later this summer.
“Graeme has been a considerable influence in the philosophy, direction and the organization of our High Performance Program, and he has managed the Canadian Eventing Team for five major Championships over the past nine years,” said the chair of the Canadian Eventing Committee, Peter Gray. “His attention to detail, foresight, expertise in budgets and logistics for Team training will make him very difficult to replace.”
Gray will be acting as interim chair of the High Performance Committee and is working closely with Thom, who has offered his assistance over the next few weeks, to ensure the riders are provided with the best team management available.
The Team is pleased that Jacky Green will act as Canada’s chef d’équipe and Max Corcoran will be the team’s stable manager. These two knowledgeable people will compliment a team of highly qualified support staff.
“Graeme has been the most influential chair of High Performance and chef d’équipe that the Canadian Eventing Team has, without doubt, ever had,” added Gray. “His knowledge of the sport and wisdom in preparing detailed planning and budgets for Team development and travel and has been unparalleled in the recent history of the sport in Canada. His expertise will be missed greatly. On behalf of the CEC, I thank Graeme for his outstanding work and tireless commitment to the team and the high performance program.”
