Equestrian Canada (EC) is pleased to recognize Erin James of Calgary, AB as the Dressage Volunteer of the Month for February 2017.
Nominated by her peers in the Calgary Area Dressage Association (CA/ADA), Erin is described as an extremely committed grassroots volunteer who has been dedicated to promoting CA/ADA for over nine years, and can always be counted on to take on any job.
Erin has played an integral part in helping CA/ADA develop dressage sport across many different levels, and host competitions all the way up to the CDI level in Alberta. In addition, she has been a vital member of the CA/ADA Show Committee, working to provide well-managed show stabling. Erin is also credited with providing the CA/ADA Board with valuable input toward challenging decisions, and helping to ensure the organization’s priorities stay aligned with its mandate.
Erin’s CA/ADA peers stated that, above all, what makes Erin a truly deserving nominee, is that she puts in many hours of volunteer work without ever looking for recognition. She is one of many volunteers who puts in time and effort without being in the spotlight or receiving formal recognition. She represents the ‘boots on the ground,’ by always stepping up to get the job done.
CA/ADA thanks Erin for bringing her knowledge, dedication, hard work, and love of both the sport and the horse to the organization, and helping to make it possible for the organization to offer programs and events in a sustainable manner.
If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the EC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making March 20, 2017 the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage.
