Canadian Olympic gold medalist Eric Lamaze has a new gig providing coaching services at Tal Milstein Stables (TMS) in Asse, Belgium. TMS specializes in the purchasing, training and selling of high-end showjumpers and also has a breeding division. The CEO, Tal Milstein, is a 50-year-old Israeli show jumper and well-known horse dealer who for several years ran The Ten, a one-of-a-kind auction for 10 of the top young show jumping talents in Europe along with co-founders Daniel Bluman and Ilan Ferder.

A Facebook post announcing the news reads:

Lamaze, now 57, last competed in the fall of 2021 and then held the position of chef d’equipe/technical advisor for the Canadian Jumping Team for a year before he was suspended by the FEI from 2023 to 2027 for an anti-doping rule violation and submitting forged medical documents.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) later tacked an additional four-year period onto his suspension, which will be in effect until Sept. 11, 2031. Lamaze continues to be ineligible to ride, train riders, or hold a position such as technical advisor or chef d’equipe for a national federation at FEI-sanctioned events. An FEI spokesperson explained after levying the original ban, “Mr. Lamaze cannot coach any equestrian riders affiliated with any National Equestrian Federation or train horses registered with the FEI or National Equestrian Federations.” It is unclear how he will circumnavigate this restriction in his new job.
