Ottawa, ON – Equine Canada is pleased to announce that staff support for competition organizers and officials has been expanded to include weekends throughout the competition season. Melanie Blanchard has joined the Equine Canada team as the competitions assistant and the team will receive additional support starting in June from a student intern. Blanchard is bilingual and had previously worked for Equine Canada in 2009 as a student intern in the competitions department.

The expansion of staff in the competitions department means that for the first time, administrative support for competition organizers and officials will now be available at the Equine Canada office on weekends.  Staff will be available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of the competition season to assist Equine Canada competition organizers and officials in emergency situations.

“Our objective is to provide assistance to our organizers and officials in the event that they are faced with an unexpected situation or problem that pops up suddenly at a competition” said Craig Andreas, Chief Operating Officer.  “We understand how frustrating it may be if there is a problem, you need help and there is no one around until Monday. If we can solve a majority of these issues with a quick phone call or email, then our organizers and officials can get right back to running their event without delay.”

Equine Canada officials and competition organizers can access weekend support between 9am and 5pm EDST by dialing 1-866-282-8392 and selecting extension 117 or alternatively sending an email to competitions@equinecanada.ca.
