Applications are now open for individuals interested in volunteering on one of the Equestrian Canada (EC) operational committees that will have vacancies starting in 2021.

About EC Operational Committees

EC operational committees provide strategic guidance and counsel to EC management to develop specified areas of interest as they relate to EC’s vision, mission and core values. The operational committees work in close collaboration with each other and EC management to deliver their mandates.

Specific responsibilities of the committees include:

  • Advising management of annual operational priorities, strategies and performance targets.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and responding to key issues that affect the equestrian industry.
  • Providing input and feedback to management concerning policies, programs, rules, regulations and/or services related its development and advocacy functions.
  • Supporting management in dealing with emerging issues.
  • Providing strategic counsel to EC staff liaisons on matters concerning equine sport and industry, and EC’s related programs and services.
  • Nominating representatives to various EC committees as required.
  • The completion of required Safe Sport orientation and training.
  • Technological literacy and the ability to use, understand and access various online platforms for information access, communication and collaboration.

Operational committee members are appointed by the EC CEO based on recommendations from the relevant operational committee. Appointment consideration is given to diversity, including without limitation, national/international knowledge and experience in the equine industry, as well as gender, regional, technical and linguistic balance.

The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2021. The applicant’s full name, EC Sport Licence number and/or PTSO number must be included in the application.

Dressage: Three (3) Vacancies

Driving: One (1) Vacancy

Skills Desired: Working knowledge of EC Rules for driving; high performance driver, coach/instructor and/or official; good communication and organization; para-driving experience or strong interest in developing para-driving programs.

Eventing: One (1) Vacancy

Skills Desired: Experience with athlete development pathways or coaching/coaching development.

Health & Welfare: Two (2) Vacancies

Skills Desired: Animal welfare scientist or researcher; trainer; equitation scientist; competition organizer; grassroots competitor; breeder.

Jumping: Two (2) Vacancies

National Breed Sports: Two (2) Vacancies*

Skills Desired: Competitor, owner, breeder, trainer or competition organizer in Morgan Horse or Arabian/Half-Arabian breed sports.
