The experienced pairing of Simone Deitermann (GER) and Flambeau H3 became the first European combination to post a win in the 2009 HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing, leading the qualifier at Marbach (GER) from start to finish.

Deitermann, 28, scored 32.3 in the Dressage, establishing a clear lead of nearly 5 penalties over compatriot Dirk Schrade (GER) on the French-bred Anglo-Arab Gadget de la Cerre, who later disappeared from the reckoning after incurring 20pen on the Cross-Country.

In a German whitewash, Julia Mestern (GER) rose from 8th place after Dressage to 2nd on FRH Schorsch, the only combination to achieve the 6min 40sec optimum Cross-Country time. Michael Jung (GER) and La Biosthetique-Sam FBW, the combination that finished 4th at last year’s HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing Final in Deauville (FRA), were 3rd ahead of Tim Lips (NED), who is causing such a sensation in Dutch Eventing, on Van Schijndel’s Owaela, 4th.
