Ottawa, Ontario — Darrin Dlin is still holding his lead in the Canadian League World Cup standings following the third event of the Canadian season, the $75,000 World Cup Qualifier held September 2 at the CSI-W Canadian Country Classic in Halton Hills, ON.
Dlin, a native of Spruce Grove, AB, who now resides in Wellington, FL, has earned a total of 39 World Cup points after winning the first two legs of the series. He first earned 19 points for winning the $70,000 Grand Prix Jumping du Quebec World Cup Qualifier on July 8 at the CSI-W Blainville Jumping International in Quebec and added 20 points for his victory in the $100,000 Caledon Equestrian Park World Cup Qualifier at the CSI-W Summer Festival held August 5 in Palgrave, ON. His partner for both wins was Odyssey Venture Inc.’s Catwalk, a 10-year-old Canadian-bred Oldenburg mare sired by the late Rio Grande.
Keean White of Cambridge, ON, shot up the standings into second place after taking third place in Halton Hills for 20 points riding Angelstone Farms’ nine-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare, Vienna Rouge. White also picked up an additional eight points for his 11th place finish at the CSI-W Summer Festival, also aboard Vienna Rouge, for a current points total of 28.
Holding down third place with 26 points is Amy Millar of Perth, ON. Millar had a strong start in the first event of the season at Blainville, guiding her 12-year-old Holsteiner mare Costa Rica Z to a fourth place finish to earn 14 points. She gained an additional 12 points at Halton Hills with an eighth place finish, this time partnered with Millar Brooke Farm’s eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Piccobello du Val de Geer.
Toronto’s Elissa Reisman is in fourth place in the standings. With the 13-year-old Holsteiner stallion Iveena S, owned by Taboo International Inc., the duo earned nine points for finishing ninth in Blainville, and followed up with a fifth place result in Palgrave for an additional 12 points. They gained another three points in Halton Hills for a current total of 24. Ainsley Vince of Milton, ON, is currently rounding out the top five with a total of 22 World Cup points. After gaining 16 points for her second place finish at Blainville, Vince finished 13th in the $100,000 Caledon Equestrian Park World Cup Qualifier to earn an additional six points with Cantero Z, an eight-year-old Zangersheide gelding owned by Iron Horse Farm.
The next event on the Canadian League World Cup calendar is the $100,000 Canada Cup Final and World Cup Qualifier on September 23 at the CSI-W Tournament of Champions in Palgrave, ON, followed by the CN World Cup Grand Prix, to be held November 7 at the CSI-W Royal Horse Show in Toronto, ON. Following the Royal Horse Show, which is the final World Cup Qualifier on Canadian soil, Canadian riders can continue to earn World Cup points at Qualifiers offered during the U.S. winter circuits.
