In front of packed grandstands, the Dressage Arena provided a fitting finale to Falsterbo Horse Show’s return to five-star dressage as the world’s best combinations took centre stage in Sunday’s CDIO5 FEI Dressage Grand Prix Freestyle presented by Novare*.
Denmark’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Mount St John Freestyle delivered a breathtaking performance to claim victory with an outstanding score of 88.420%.
The Falsterbo audience was treated to an exclusive first look at Laudrup-Dufour’s brand-new freestyle, performed in competition for the very first time. The Olympic silver medallists danced effortlessly through the test, impressing both judges and spectators with a harmonious, expressive performance that secured a convincing victory.
“I really had that dancing feeling and especially my last line, felt so uplifting having the crowd beside me as well. It’s been a lot of work putting this new freestyle together and I think today was a perfect rehearsal, cause now I know that there needs to be done small changes before the World Championships. She has performed outstanding this weekend and I’m so thankful to be here in Sweden again,” said Laudrup-Dufour.
Germany’s Leonie Richter finished second aboard Lord Europe with a score of 78.295%, while Denmark’s Anna Zibrandtsen and Quel Filou completed the podium on 76.475%.
The class concluded a successful week for international dressage at Falsterbo Horse Show, marking the welcome return of five-star dressage to the programme and once again bringing some of the world’s leading combinations to the iconic Dressage Arena.
