Fresh off of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the Canadian Show Jumping Team will make its next appearance in the $530,000 BMO Nations Cup, held during the CSIO 5* Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament taking place Sept. 4-8 in Calgary, AB.

The four team members competing for the maple leaf in the BMO Nations Cup on Sept. 7 will be chosen from the following athletes:

Nations Cup classes are the only type of jumping competitions where riders compete in teams of four and face off against other countries. To determine overall team scores, the top three scores from each team are counted toward the final result of the two-round competition.

The BMO Nations Cup has been a highlight of the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament since 1977. The Canadian Show Jumping Team has claimed victory twice, in 2006 and 2014, and earned third in both 2015 and 2016. Most recently, the team finished second in 2018.

“As always, I’m looking forward to competing at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’,” said Chef d’Équipe, Mark Laskin. “Spruce Meadows is the best show jumping venue in the world and we, as the home country, feel an obligation to step up to the standards they set. I’m confident that we will be able to do so throughout the entire tournament, and most specifically on Saturday in the BMO Nations Cup.”

The Canadian athletes will be led on the ground in Calgary by Laskin and Equestrian Canada Manager of Jumping, Karen Hendry-Ouellette.
