The Château arena brings good luck to Danielle Lambert

Canadian Danielle Lambert, who lives and competes in Europe, came to Chantilly and enjoyed the second international victory of her career. It happened aboard her gelding Cissro Van Birthe Z in the StudForLife.tv Prize on Thursday, July 8, a two-phase special class where she beat by only 17-100ths of a second the young Belgian Mathieu Guery ‒ the son of Jérôme, who has just been selected to represent Belgium in the Tokyo Olympics and who also participated in the Masters of Chantilly.

Two years ago, Danielle Lambert was still working in an office. On Friday, July 9, she won her second CSI1* class, the 1.35m Prix Geberit, in Chantilly. This marks an impressive change of career for the 46-year-old Canadian. “I grew up in California and rode there as a junior, but then I stopped about 23 years ago and last year started back up again. I called Philippe Rozier when Covid hit and told him I needed to ride, I could not just sit inside, and he told me to come down and ride with him. That was last May, so we are now one year in and I have a great string of horses, Philippe is an amazing trainer and we have a lot of fun.” One of those great horses is the grey Cobalt de Nantuel, a nine-year-old Selle Français, almost 1.82 m (18 hands) tall. “He’s got a big stride and a big gallop and he just loves it. This was just a nice course where he could gallop and float and turn easily.”
