Rockwood, Ontario – Angelstone Farms of Rockwood, ON, will host an inaugural one-day jumping competition on Tuesday, August 25, 2009.

The purpose of the competition, which will be held at the new Angelstone Farms facility, is to provide an affordable way for riders to develop young horses at very low cost. The one-day show is scheduled for a Tuesday so that it does not conflict with riders’ current show schedules.

The one-day competition at Angelstone Farms will consist of four classes held on quality footing and featuring decorative jumps provided by Brody Robertson. Entry fees will be $20 per class, and no other fees will be charged. Each horse may compete up to three times per class, with only the first round to be scored.

“Over the past few years, a major concern that has been raised is the cost of developing young horses,” said current Canadian Show Jumping Champion Keean White of Angelstone Farms. “In an effort to be part of the solution, I have decided to run with this idea in the hopes that it will grow into something we can all benefit from in the future. If this initiative is well-received and has support from the local stables, we will look at branching out to other farms in the area in 2010.”

At Angelstone Farms, horses and riders will warm-up on grass, while the show ring, measuring 150m x 220m, consists of all-weather footing by Karen Leeming. The show will start at approximately 10 a.m. with a 1.00m Time First Jump-Off class followed by 1.10m Time First Jump-Off class at approximately 12 noon and a 1.20m Jumper class at 2 p.m. The final class of the day will be the $2,500 Angelstone Farms 1.30m Mini-Prix.

Drinks are complimentary throughout the day, and a barbeque will be held following the show at approximately 6 p.m. For more information on the one-day jumping competition at Angelstone Farms, please visit www.angelstonefarms.com, e-mail Keean21@aol.com or call (519) 856-0064.
