Equestrian Canada (EC) is pleased to announce the winners of the Horse Day Kids Drawing Contest held as part of the 11th annual National Horse Day on June 1, 2019.
The contest was offered as a fun and engaging way for Canadians to get involved in Horse Day 2019, which saw over 14,000 participants attend 79 events across the country to honour and raise awareness about the beloved horse.
The Horse Day Drawing Contest provided kids aged 3 to 16 with the opportunity to compete for prizes in four different age categories.
Fantastic entries were sent in across the four age categories (3 to 6, 7 to 9, 10 to 12, and 13 to 16), making the judging no easy task.
The contest guidelines required entrants to draw their art by hand and include at least one horse in the submission. The works of art were then judged based on the criteria of beauty, arrangement of colours, originality and implied effort by the contestant.
The age category winners of the Horse Day Drawing Contest are as follows:
Category: 3 to 6
Roxy Birett, ON
Category: 7 to 9
Ella Sun, ON
Category: 10 to 12
Jaryn Carson, AB
Category: 13 to 16
Mia Gieselmann, BC
Congratulations to the winners, and a huge thank you to all contestants for submitting entries and getting involved in Horse Day 2019! Winners between the ages of 3 to 12 took home a prize pack consisting of a grooming kit and horse treats valued at $50. EC would also like to thank the University of Guelph, who sponsored the prize for the winner of the age 13-16 category. Mia Gieselmann received free enrollment in the University of Guelph’s online Horse Behaviour and Safety Course.
