The Club de Campo Villa de Madrid (ESP), venue for this year’s FEI European Jumping Championship, is to provide all-weather sand footing for the main arena to ensure perfect going for the Championship. The Championship will run from 13-18 September 2011.

The Club already has sand footing in its warm-up rings, but the footing in the main arena has traditionally been grass for the annual CSI, which last year celebrated its centenary. The grass will now be removed and replaced with all-weather sand footing for the 2011 FEI European Jumping Championship. The grass footing will then be restored for the 2012 CSI at the Club.

The FEI European Jumping Championship takes place every two years, in the middle of the Olympic cycle. The last time the Championships were held in Spain was in 1993 when they were hosted in Gijón.
