A horse stabled at a facility in York Region has been diagnosed with equine herpes myeloencephalopathy (EHM) due to equine herpes virus-1 (EHV-1).

On January 18, 2019 two cases of equine herpes viral abortion caused by equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) was reported at a farm in Haldimand County in Ontario.
One horse has died from equine herpes myeloencephalopathy (EHM), caused by equine herpes virus 1 (EHV-1), in Simcoe County. One other horse is recovering.
