Stubben Steeltec Stirrups Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Aug. 8 announced a voluntary recall of Stubben Steeltec SEQ Stirrups.

The stirrups are imported by Stubben North America Inc. of Troy, Va. The safety commission reported that hinges on the stirrups can break, posing a fall hazard to riders. Stubben has received two reports of the stirrups breaking. No injuries have been reported.

The stirrups are made of stainless steel and have a hinge on each side. “Stubben STEELtec” is printed on the stirrups. They were sold in sizes: 4.5″, 4.75″, and 5″ at Stubben authorized dealers nationwide from August 2006 through May 2007 for about $100 per pair. About 500 pairs have been sold.

The commission advised riders to stop using the stirrups immediately and return them to Stubben to receive a full refund.
