Equestrian Canada (EC) is pleased to announce that Anne Welch from Newmarket, ON has been chosen as the Dressage Volunteer of the Month for January 2017.
Over the years, Anne’s many volunteer positions have included President of the former Canadian Dressage Supporters Club (CDSC), Chair of the EC Dressage Competitions Committee, and member of the EC Sport Council. She has also been involved in the EC Stewards, Equine Medication Control, Health & Welfare, and Nominations Committees.
In 2011, Anne led the Long Term Equestrian Development (LTED) review for EC. Under Anne’s leadership, this challenging and highly valuable project came to fruition in 2015 with many parts of the review now being integrated into current coaching and competitions programs.
Anne is also currently an FEI Dressage and Jumper Steward and an EC Senior Steward in all disciplines. She is also well known as an owner of elite horses, and together with her husband John and the Brooks family, was recognized in 2012 as the Dressage Owner of the Year.
EC thanks Anne for her incredible contributions to dressage and equestrian sport as a whole in Canada and is pleased to recognize her accomplishments through the Dressage Volunteer of the Month Award.
If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the EC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making Feb. 20, 2017 the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage.
