Online bidding for the 2016 Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association Stallion Service Auction began February 8th and closes February 21st at 10:00 p.m. (EST).
The CWHBA Stallion Service Auction (SSA) provides an opportunity to breed to some of the best CWHBA Approved or Licensed breeding stallions at an exceptional price, as bids start at 50 per cent the advertised stud fee.
Foals born from these stallions are eligible for registration with the CWHBA and are also eligible for CWHBA sponsored Young Horse Performance Classes and extra prize money supported by the SSA.
In addition, these foals can be entered, for free, in provincial foal futurities hosted by the CWHBA for stallions born out of the SSA. Stallion owners also receive one free foal entry for their participation in the SSA. Each provincial chapter will run a futurity for foals born from a donated stallion in the year of their birth. Additional foals from nominated stallions can buy into the futurity classes for $50 each. These classes are funded by the SSA. The amount of money each chapter has to offer in prize money depends on the amount of money raised by nominated stallions’ breedings from each chapter, the chapter location of the successful bidders and the number of buy in foals.
Breedings not purchased during the first round will be offered for a second round BUY IT NOW option starting on February 21st at 10:00 p.m. and closing on February 28th at 10:00 p.m.
Winning bidders will receive an invoice (GST/HST APPLIES) and payment form by e-mail a few days after the closing of the second round bidding (February 28th).
Where one farm has donated a choice of stallions, only one breeding is being sold. Bidders do not need to specify the stallion at the time of bidding. The successful bidder will decide on the stallion of choice when they are signing the stallion owner’s contract.
