British eventer Nicola Wilson has announced that her 2012 Olympic partner, Opposition Buzz, has died at the age of 17 on November 8th.
In a statement on her website, Wilson said, “Our beloved Dodi [Opposition Buzz] sadly passed away yesterday after several weeks of enjoying his well-deserved retirement. He had a seizure in the morning and was put to sleep on veterinary advice. A shock to us all. [He was] a very special horse who will be missed beyond belief. He made so much possible and opened so many doors for me. Rest in peace Dodi, and thank you.”
Wilson and Opposition Buzz were members of Great Britain’s 2012 Olympic silver medal-winning team with William Fox-Pitt, Zara Phillips, Tina Cook and Mary King.
