How You Can Help

These surveys are crucial for collecting comprehensive data to reveal the horse industry’s direct and indirect economic effects in the province, and identify challenges and growth opportunities. Analysis of the input gathered will be conducted in the fall, with a final report published by the end of 2025.

The study’s success depends on broad participation from all equine stakeholders, whose data and insights will provide reliable statistics and shape a compelling narrative for policymakers, investors, and the public – important for both jobs and the industry’s economic impact in Ontario. Ways that people can help to promote the survey include:

Tracey McCague-McElrea, the Executive Director of Ontario Equestrian, remarked on the importance of the Ontario Equine Economic Survey. “We don’t currently have an industry-specific study. The last national study was done in 2010, so we are long overdue. In times of crisis, or when seeking government grants, you must be able to present solid, up-to-date evidence of your impact to tourism, agriculture, and sport. Without current data, it’s almost impossible to make a credible case for funding, leaving the equestrian industry at a serious disadvantage compared to other agricultural and sport groups. The fact that a grant has been secured to fund this survey is significant, and it’s why it’s so important for everyone to participate and complete it.”
