Troy, Ontario – Canadian-bred horses won all age divisions when the second event in the 2008 Canadian Young Horse Development Series, the Fox Run Spring Horse Show II, was held Sunday, May 25, in Troy, ON.
In the Seven and Eight-Year-Old Division, Divine Diva and Michelle Vandal emerged victorious, turning in the fastest clear round in the jump-off. Developed through the levels of the Canadian Jumper Development Series, Divine Diva is a registered Canadian Sport Horse mare bred by Shady Maple Farm. Her father is the thoroughbred sire, Vice Chancellor, while her Clydesdale dam is Mac Rene Ideal Shelley by Centre View Ideal.
Jumping double clear to finish second was Naiade des Garins, piloted by Hyde Moffatt for owner Mark Hayes. The imported selle francais is by Damiro out of Joyeuse des Garins by Muguet du Manior.
Vandal incurred four faults in the jump-off to place third with Tampa, an eight-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood gelding by Emilion out of Hyacinta by Consul. Vandal took fourth as well with VDL Upsala H, a Canadian Warmblood by Ahorn out of Liberty R by Libero, for owner Liam Dumont-Walker. Moffatt rounded out the top five riding Mark Hayes’ Naphea de Coilly, a registered selle francais by the current World Champion horse, Cumano, out of a Page de Paulstra dam.
Vandal of Milton, ON, also won the Six-Year-Old Division with her own VDL Viper H. Seven horses advanced to the jump-off but only two could repeat their faultless first round effort, with Vandal accomplishing this feat in a time of 29.46 seconds compared to the 32.97 seconds turned in by Hyde Moffatt and Candide van het Kastanjehof. A registered Canadian Warmblood, VDL Viper H was bred by Hogendoorn and features Dutch bloodlines. The grey is by Corland out of Fanieta by Ahorn.
Moffatt and Candide van het Kastanjehof had won the first event of the season three weeks ago, but settled for second this time out for owner Mark Hayes. A Belgian Warmblood gelding, Candide van het Kastanjehof is by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve out of Revelerie et Kastanjehof by Quito de Baussy.
Vandal also took third place riding Lilius for owner Liam Dumont-Walker while Moffatt was fourth riding the German-bred Rimrock for Elizabeth Bates. Adrienne Iverson and the Canadian-bred GH Fortune’s Son rounded out the top five for owner and breeder Glenhadden Farm.
In the Five-Year-Old Division, last year’s National Four-Year-Old Champion proved she is just as competitive one year later. Riga, owned by Sherri Hunt-Serazia and ridden by Carly Campbell Cooper, jumped clear and received the highest style score to earn her first young horse victory of the season. A registered Hannoverian mare, Riga was bred by Mill Creek Stables in Cambridge, ON. Her sire is Raphael, the Westphalian stallion that has produced numerous international grand prix show jumping horses, while her dam is Chanel by Carte d’Or.
Moffatt again settled for second, this time riding the Canadian-bred Privilege for owner Mark Hayes. Privilege is also a registered selle francais, but is Canadian-bred, sired by Ilian de Taute and out of Lryic by the Hannoverian sire, Laptop.
Adrienne Iverson took third and fourth places with Viva’s Don Juan W, a Canadian Warmblood by Viva Voltaire out of Rio’s Dolly by Rio Grande, and Futi’s Calypso W, a Canadian Warmblood gelding by Futurist out of Caroline by Capitol II, both owned and bred by Augustin Walch of W. Charlot Farms in Stratford, ON. Campbell Cooper was fifth riding Bal Pare, an imported Oldenburg by Baloubet du Rouet out of a Landfriese II mare, for owner Mill Creek Stables.
The Canadian-bred entry of Julio W won the Four-Year-Old Division with a clear round and the highest style score. Shown by Adrienne Iverson for owner and breeder Augustin Walch, Julio W is a registered Canadian Warmblood by Joe Cocker out of Diana W by Diamant.
Taking second was Lino, an Oldenburg by Lordanos out of a Pablo dam, ridden by Allison Zlepnig for owner Ottawa Southway Inn Group. In third was Espresso B, a registered Hannoverian by Earl out of Remington B by Ramiro’s Bube, ridden by Vivian Millard for owner and breeder Michael Boyd.
Fourth place went to Viva’s Romeo W, a Canadian Warmblood gelding by Viva Voltaire out of Regina by Eye Remember Rio, ridden by Adrienne Iverson for owner and breeder Augustin Walch. The Canadian-bred Kraemer rounded out the top five under Giselle Perry for owner Sandra Ammonn.
