The following message was received from the Ontario Hunter Jumper Association:
The OHJA board knows that there’s uncertainty surrounding the 2020 Ontario Gold Show season, because of the ongoing global health crisis.
We understand that our members are passionate about horseshowing (we are too!). We wanted to share some information about OHJA programs, and the accumulation of points in 2020.
- Equestrian Canada has said that EC-sanctioned competitions are suspended until June 30th. The OHJA programs are run under EC rules, so this means that our programs cannot run during the suspension period.
- Equestrian Canada has told their members, and associations like us, that decisions about points will be addressed once a “return to competition framework” has been published. We won’t make any decisions about our year-end points or their criteria until we have that information.
- OHJA points are governed by EC Rule G113 for Provincial Awards (Section G: Hunter, Jumper, Equitation and Hack Rule Book – pages 8-10) and as per this EC rule, no points for regional, provincial, national or international finals, circuits, or championships may be earned in restricted classes. This means shows restricting the number of entries in a class, division or show will not count for points.
We hope that this gives some insight as to where things stand right now. We’ll keep working closely with Equestrian Canada, Ontario Equestrian, and all the Ontario Gold Horse Show venues, and we’ll try to keep our members up-to-date with any updates about the 2020 Ontario Gold Show season.
Look for those updates on our website and social channels as they become available.
Until then, we hope that you’re enjoying some lovely summer rides!
