Selena left with the trailer at 5:00 a.m. this morning, which means she should get here sometime between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to seeing her and looking forward to her seeing the horses.
Word from Anne Marie in Ocala is that Woody has been jogged and is in splendid form today and enjoying his day off in the sunshine. He likes competing and comes home feeling good about himself and life in general. He is a good eater and drinks well too. I sometimes think that when people advertise their horses they should extol those very virtues. Having had one or two that were difficult, it’s a relief to deal with a good forager.
Today was Sunday Funday. We were all about ‘ride like Tim Price’ today. He really was impressive especially on ‘Nouvelle,’ who did not look easy. He was so tactful and yet insisted on getting his own way. PLUS….the straight line from his elbows to his horses mouth was nothing short of miraculous through challenge after challenge and in all three phases. Lovely rider!
Sunday Fundays are our winter solace. We give ourselves jumping conundrums to solve. Either pace, or turns, or angles or adjusting strides…Sunday is puzzle day. The horses rose to the occasion today and it was fun to be able to walk over to the barn (finally) and watch some of the action.
All our horses have been out grazing for the past two days. There is little or no ground covered by either ice or snow and the horses are peacefully nibbling away all day. They are so very content. When you have a break like this in the winters it really gives you a window into what we struggle with in Canada, riding our horses for four months of the year in such artificial conditions, then turning them out on snow where they can’t see or reach the grass below their feet. As soon as they have their paddocks back and some silly old brown winter grass they are 100% happier.
