I know I keep going on and on about the mild weather, but trot sets in the sand arena, in Ontario on February 4! We are in our sixth year here at Balsam Hall. In all that time, we had one exceptionally mild spring when we were out riding in the sand arena on March 9th. And we talked about it for years… February 3rd and 4th 2016 go down in the annals as the warmest ever – it was 10 degrees here yesterday!
The photo is of Tori Morgan riding Watson’s Peanuts (an old two star campaigner of Selena’s who is now an awesome dressage schoolmaster) and leading our friend Solo aka ‘A First Romance.’ He is the most beautiful horse and I love him dearly.
This time next week he will be in Ocala…lucky thing. They are just setting out on an outside in the sand ring trot set, and loving it. The downside, of course, is that the paddocks are soft and saturated. We have been managing outside turnout in our two big fenced in sand rings. We are lucky to have them.
Selena is already in Wellington. EN are live streaming and she rides dressage at 11:00 a.m. I am excited for her and nervous too. I just want it all to ‘go well’. Today’s video is from yesterday’s XC at Training camp.
