Monday Sept 11
After a fun and successful weekend of competition for team OHE at Wesley Clover park in Ottawa, it was time to unpack and repack the trailer for Plantation Field International. A big thanks to everyone back home for helping us get on our way!
Anne Marie and I arrived at Chesterland Farm on Monday evening with Woody and Riley. Bruce was there to welcome us into his brand new barn near the house and then we all had pizza together. It was nice to see Sophia’s smiling face again too ????. After a good meal and great company we took the boys for a quick walk and graze before bed.
Tuesday Sept 12
We thoroughly enjoyed watching Bruce school Mosses and coach Sophia through her test movements for this week. She will be doing the 2*. Best of luck to her!????
It’s the first time I’ve been here since Buck moved in, so it was wonderful to see everyone in one place. I got to high five Woodge for her phenomenal riding at Burghley as well as hug Andrea and Aubrey. So many wonderful friends at Chesterland make this place so special. People like Javier, Fanny, Jan, Doughie, Buck and Bruce. We met Celeste who is here working for Bruce all the way from Australia. Shout out to Susie who we are missing sorely while she tackles Florida and Hurricane Irma!
I love seeing all the new foals as well as the familiar broodmares and young horses, plus Charlie the stallion.
It was a fun filled action packed day. We rode ours lightly because they had travelled the day before and Riley had competed at Ottawa plus Woody had galloped on Sunday. Then we watched Andrea school a few horses on the flat, Buck and Woodge also. Patrick did a great job of backing two youngsters out of Bruce’s stallion in the indoor, they were very clever and lovely movers.
While we cleaned tack Lainey appeared, hurray! So we enjoyed watching and learning as she had two jumping lessons on her 1 & 2* horses with Buck. Fabulous riding Lainey, on lovely horses, one of which her mother bred. Best of luck girl!
I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has to offer????
