It was a laid back day in Kentucky. Selena hacked Woody and let him take in all the scenery and did much the same with Derg Boru who is taking it all in stride. Anne Marie texted me early in the morning to say that Tim Price had said good morning to her, all in a day’s excitement. I remember in Hong Kong in 2008, Selena carefully waited in the hallway so that she could ride up in the elevator with Mark Todd. Later that week he caught up with her on Colombo and hacked out with her, I don’t know what was more exciting, being at the Olympics or hacking with Mark Todd LOL
Anne Marie assiduously grazes the horses morning noon and night. Whenever she has a few minutes free she takes one of the boys out and gives them some Kentucky blue grass. Blue, green, Kentucky, Florida or Ontario, Woody likes his grass. Here is Derg Boru (King Brian) out grazing in his ‘Shires’ blanket. We are loving our Shires blankets, they are high quality, stay warm and most of all they stay in place. Anne Marie is pleased that they are so nicely made around the shoulders and don’t cause rubs. You can’t go to Rolex with rubs on your shoulders!

Here at home all the horses that were compromised by the bad batch of vaccine are feeling much better. I was up all night again, Rummy’s temperature did not go down to acceptable levels until 4am and another horse had refused to poop until after 4am. It turned out that all the horses had more of a problem with their digestion than I had realized. Only one horse really showed in her stall that she was a bit constipated, the others looked ok but this morning EVERYONE had really dirty stalls. The mare who had been causing me to worry had managed to catch up with everyone else between 4.30am and 7am. I think they had all been a little constipated with the high temps and as the temps lowered….. We were happy to see it. It’s not often you are super happy when all your stalls are filthy in the morning LOL
We turned them out for a quiet hour in the afternoon (after it stopped snowing….sigh) and tomorrow they will all do a light hack. I don’t think we will be doing serious work with them until the weekend. It has been an exhausting and very frightening two days. Thank goodness it was not the July injections right in the middle of the show season and just before the Olympics. I am scared to vaccinate Woody!
