Foxwood High, aka Woody.

Foxwood High, aka Woody.

First event of the year has been a bit of a roller coaster to say the least. Woody did a much better test than Wellington and in the snaffle. Those movements that are worth double are REALLY HARD and costly!

I had a great show jumping round and then found out the time was VERY hard to make when I overheard the announcer say I had five time faults. It would have been nice to know before I went in the ring. “Sigh”

On Friday I had both the Rather Well boys in the trailer. Zephyr and Riley, aka Rather Boldly. They each did a decent test and Zephyr did his show jumping that day. A lovely clear round.

Today (Saturday) was Riley’s turn to show jump at 8:28 a.m. and he put in a fabulous clear round. I got a little over zealous and came in 15 seconds under the time???? but he jumped to the moon and back.

Shortly after that it was Riley who did a fantastic clear cross country. The course was tough enough with skinnies, a quarry to a corner as well as an “on off” bank and fun water jump. He took nothing out of himself and was ready to go again on the walk home.

Unfortunately Zephyr and I had a discussion about the first cabin of two on an angle with a knoll between them. Fence #4A. After that he was dragging me to everything and jumping with glee! Sadly I managed to pull a brain fart and completely miss fence #13, eliminating myself. Luckily I had done most of the course except the water. Which would have been fun so I’m kicking myself VERY hard????

“Can’t win for losing” as they say. I even went over the course in the warm up with a few different riders. Not gonna lie I don’t even remember walking the jump I missed.

I’m really hoping I’ve worked out all the kinks in this event so the rest of the season runs smoothly. ????
