According to reports as yet to be confirmed by the FEI, Austria failed to submit its Host Agreement to the FEI by the Dec. 15th deadline, thus negating their bid for the 2018 World Equestrian Games. This means that the Bromont Equestrian Olympic Park in Bromont, QC, is now the only remaining bidder of the original eight cities that initially expressed interest in hosting the WEG. This does not automatically mean that Roger Deslauriers’ facility will get the Games, however, as the site must still be approved by the Bureau, substantial Federal funding needs to be secured, etc. The next step in the bidding process is the technical presentation to the FEI Bid Evaluation Commission in February; the final decision will be announced by the Bureau later in the spring.
