The United States’ Dressage Team’s gold-medal win in the team event at the Pan American Games on Sunday earned them an automatic qualifying spot for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sabine Schut-Kery, Kimberly Herslow, Laura Graves and Steffen Peters combined scores totalled 460.506, ahead of Canada’s silver medal effort (454.938 pts) and Brazil, which took the bronze with 414.895 pts.
Dressage is among 10 sports at the 2015 Pan Am Games that offer athletes an opportunity to secure a spot in the Rio Olympics, scheduled for Aug. 5-21 next year.
