Following the receipt of a letter from a number of PTSOs which raised concerns about the protocols for amending articles and other proposed changes to Equestrian Canada’s bylaws, a letter was sent to Voting Members from EC CEO Meg Krueger on Sept. 24:
“On September 21, 2021, Equestrian Canada received the attached letter from legal counsel to a number of our PTSOs. In brief, the letter alleges that certain proposed amendments that were to be voted on at the AGM have been put forward improperly. The letter also threatens litigation against Equestrian Canada. In light of the concerns expressed in the letter, Equestrian Canada provided the attached response on September 24, 2021. In brief, in light of the nature of the concerns expressed, Equestrian Canada advised that it will fully consider those concerns before pursuing the amendments. As such, Equestrian Canada will not pursue those amendments at the AGM on September 28, 2021.”
Diane Staples, lawyer for the PTSOs involved, remarked in a statement on their behalf, “We’re very happy that Equestrian Canada was receptive to our concerns. This is hopefully the beginning of a better relationship and better communication between all members.”
