Calgary, AB – There were 28 horse/rider combinations that started the $20,000 Cargill Jumper Cup on Saturday evening at Spruce Meadows.  The course, set by Germany’s Christa Heibach, was cleared by seven who then moved onto the jump-off round.

The first to go in the jump-off was BC native Andrea Strain.  Strain rode her 9 year-old gelding Luigi clear around the seven jumping effort course with a time of 33.26.  It was a fast time that would be tough to beat by the next six into the ring.

Lindsay Hitchner (CAN) and her mare Georgia had a great intermediate time but the speed cost them a rail ending their chances at the win.  In the end it was Strain’s night after she took the lead early and was able to hold on for victory in the Cargill Jumper Cup.
